Girls in Control Workshops

The development of the Girls in Control Workshop material is sponsored by the IFAC Foundation.

The first ‘Girls in Control’ workshop took place in conjunction with the 2020 IFAC World Congress on 13 July 2020 in a virtual format. It included online hands-on activities, talks and discussions to explain and experience the fundamentals of control.

Close to 100 girls aged from 10 to 15 years from all over the world participated in learning sessions about control. Sessions were offered in English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, and Portuguese and covered control theoretic principles, different control applications, the concept of a proportional controller, and the implementation of controllers in Scratch. The workshop was a great success and there are plans to repeat it in future.

The workshop was made possible by: Margret Bauer; Gunhild Elisabeth Berget; Pauline Bernard; Inger Berge Hagen; Roxanne Jackson; Steffi Knorn; Anne Koch; Caterine Oliveira; Alessandra Parisio; Eduardo Rath Rohr; Damiano Varagnolo; Cristiano Maria Verrelli.
